Not all heroes wear capes. Some step into the world with open arms, eager to mend the broken and ease the suffering.
This poem, “Healing Betrayal: Rising Above Deceit and Disappointment,” explores a soul’s journey filled with optimism as they aim to heal the world. However, he confronts brutal betrayal, leading to a transformation from a healer to a guarded survivor amid a landscape of deceit and broken trust.

Eager, once, my eyes did search,
To mend the broken, ease their lurch.
A heart ablaze, a soul unbound,
To heal the world, make burdens ground.
Across the land, for those forlorn,
A creed of kindness, hope reborn.
To soothe their ache, to offer aid,
With open arms, my spirit displayed.
Life, a bitch with a mocking grin,
Ripped the mask off, let the rot begin.
Smiling faces, shadows deep,
Kindness devoured, promises cheap.
Gratitude? A phantom’s breath,
In hearts where greed festers like death.
They leech your trust, your sacrifice,
Leaving you scorned, a bitter price.
Lies like daggers, pierce and tear,
From those I helped, those I held dear.
A lesson etched in acid rain:
Their love was poison, a stinging pain.
To hell with debts of mercy’s call,
This heart’s a fortress, built a wall.
My peace, my mind, a steel-forged cage,
No room for vipers on this stage.
No more a pawn in their hollow game,
This shield I raise, a soul aflame.
With eyes of ice, I walk alone,
Leaving the parasites to moan.
This world, a graveyard of empty grace,
I find my solace in this lonely space.
A life for me, a sovereign’s reign,
No viper’s hiss can bring me pain.
Let them chase their gilded lies,
While I watch the world with knowing eyes.
In stoic peace, my days unfold,
Victorious, a story yet untold.
