Navigating Mentorship: Choosing Wisely and Making a Lasting Impact

Life takes many turns, and sometimes, after years of experience, we find ourselves at a new crossroads. The frantic rush of youth fades, replaced by a calmer pace.

This poem, “Navigating Mentorship: Choosing Wisely and Making a Lasting Impact,” explores this transition. It delves into the power of mentorship, urging us to extend a helping hand to the younger generation, just as someone once did for us. But the poem also cautions against blind trust.

As we embark on this rewarding journey of mentorship, we must choose wisely, ensuring our efforts nurture deserving individuals and leave a positive, lasting impact.

It is imperative that back stabbing, opportunistic, self centred, egoistic ingrates who are a curse to any civilised society are weeded out.

There comes a time when we have reached a stage,
Life is no longer a rat race,
We can afford to take it easy, adopt our own pace,
Allow the youngsters to rally past, after all, they must learn how to weather the storm, learn to sail.

Stop by, extend that helping hand just like someone had when we were young,
Mentor them so that they are on terra firma, be their guardian angel, help them fly high, ensure they do not fail.
And when we are gone and these youngsters age they too shall take heed,
They too shall extend that helping hand to juniors in need.

Thus, the cycle of wisdom and support shall continue to turn,
Each generation with a fire to learn,
With guidance and care, the young will strive,
And the legacy of kindness will forever thrive.

For in the end, it’s not just about the race we run,
But the lives we touch, the good we’ve done,
And as we look back, content and proud,
We’ll know we’ve made a difference, standing tall, heads bowed.

Yet in these times, when hearts grow cold,
When selfishness and greed take hold,
Be wise, discerning, in whom you trust,
For many seek to serve just their own lust.

Few are those who truly need,
Your guidance, love, a selfless deed,
So choose with care whom you assist,
Lest your good will be lost in mist.

For some, ungrateful, will take your aid,
With no remorse, your trust betrayed,
They’ll stab your back, their hearts so black,
Beware of those who lack the tact.

It’s sad but true, this harsh reality,
The good often lost in this disparity,
So guard your heart, your interests first,
To hell with the rest, protect your own thirst.
